What Students Get at Greater Enrichment Program
Greater Enrichment Program provides a loving and safe environment beyond school hours where children have the opportunity to do their homework, improve academic skills and socialize with friends. GEP provides stimulating and fun activities that help children develop into healthy, well-rounded youth. Tutoring, sports, cultural activities and computer awareness are just a few of the activities that fill the after-school hours at Greater Enrichment Program. Greater Enrichment Program follows a curriculum that is parallel to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. GEP Site Coordinators, Teachers and School Administrators work together to ensure that programs supplement the learning that takes place during the school day. Along with academic support, Greater Enrichment Program focuses on children’s social needs.
The Parent and Guardian Program
Parent and guardian training is an important component of Greater Enrichment Program. We encourage parents and guardians to become actively involved in the learning activities for their children while pursuing personal growth for themselves. We have adopted an objective five point program to meet parent and guardian needs.
- To be trained for and seek employment that will provide a better way of life
- To improve parenting skills
- To eliminate the stigma of illiteracy
- To encourage upward mobility and advocacy for education
- To increase awareness of school standards, promotion guidelines and their child’s educational needs
Transportation
Greater Enrichment Program provides limited free transportation to participants residing in designated transportation areas. Designated transportation areas are normally within a limited area around the program site. Parents must apply for transportation at the time of program registration.
